Abracadabra Coffee - February 2022 Release
This coffee starts off with burst of lime giving a clean fresh impression. Green fruit flavors are the predominant notes with some honeysuckle florals with kiwi like sweetness suggesting a tartness not common in naturals. Its a silky brew with a gooseberry-like finish. It finishes like a bouquet of violets and a hint of lime cheesecake. The coffee was one of the most interesting profiles and cleanest naturals I’ve tasted recently.
Notes: A second brew on the Hario Switch dripper gave a profile that was also green fruit dominant with florals and but a distinct mouth-watering grapefruit juiciness. This coffee as stated above was not as sweet as most natural process coffees which is attributable to the surprising fact that the fruit was picked when orange rather than the ruby red color characteristic of ripe coffee cherries. Being underripe would suggest lower brix (sugar concentration) at harvest but using a natural post-harvest process would also add some sweetness to the seed (bean).
