Roseline Coffee - September 2022 Release

The theme of this coffee from Ethiopia is tropical fruit and delicate texture. Flavor notes of pink guava are prominent at first sip with aromas of grilled pineapple and a whole mouth juiciness that really persists. I tasted hints of watermelon and cranberry/pomegranate juice on the finish. It’s sweet, refined and refreshing. All of this reflects meticulous processing as explained in the roaster notes below. Kudos to the producers at Gore Dako and the roasting team at Roseline.

Roaster notes: Gore Dako is a newer washing station operated by Agaro's Kata Maduga Cooperative who actually didn’t find their way to market until ten years ago, when USAID’s Technoserve project vested Agaro with brand-new processing equipment. This allowed their coffee to showcase its unique character and improve the lives of those growing it in the process.

Thanks to Technoserve’s initial investment and the stellar leadership within Kata Muduga, the processing at Gore Dako is immaculate, leading to an incredible showcase of the coffee’s natural potential year after year for a ridiculously long time off harvest. The secret? After Penagos processing equipment mechanically removes most of the fruit and mucilage from the seeds, they soak overnight in fiberglass tanks, allowing any remaining sugars to be fully removed from their surface so that the coffees are perfectly clean by the time they hit the drying beds for the eight-plus days they’ll need to dry.
